North Bay Minor Hockey: A Proud Tradition of Development and Competition
As many of you already know, the OHF recently announced significant changes to the landscape of minor hockey across the province. Borders are now wide open at all levels of play from U10 and above.
Detailed information can be found on these OHF sites:
North Bay Minor Hockey has long been a premier organization dedicated to developing high-level players while remaining deeply committed to our local hockey community. We take great pride in fostering homegrown talent while providing a competitive environment for players looking to excel.
Our AA and A programs remain focused on North Bay players, while also welcoming players from outside our traditional boundaries, ensuring that local athletes have every opportunity to develop and compete at the highest level within our system. We have a strong relationship with the North Bay and District Trappers AAA association, providing a clear pathway for players looking to progress. Our structured affiliation between A, AA and AAA allows for seamless development, ensuring that players have opportunities to challenge themselves at the next level.
North Bay Minor Hockey is proud to offer elite coaching at all levels. Many of our coaches are former North Bay players, with experience at the professional, Major Junior, NCAA, College, or Junior levels. Their knowledge, passion, and dedication to development make our program one of the best in Northern Ontario.
We take immense pride in the success of our graduates. Many continue to give back to the North Bay hockey community, while others have moved on to play at higher levels, including the OHL, NCAA, and professional hockey.
North Bay Minor Hockey is also committed to investing in player development. We subsidize individual skills training for both skaters and goalies, ensuring that every player in our program has access to the tools they need to improve. Our commitment to development continues to grow, and we remain focused on providing the best resources for our athletes.
Our facilities provide an incredible environment for development and competition. The historic Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens, home of the OHL’s North Bay Battalion, offers an elite atmosphere for our players. We have developed a close working relationship with the Battalion to provide development opportunities for players within our association.
While additional rinks across the city support a strong hockey culture, a new $63 million Community and Recreation Centre, which will house two NHL size ice pads, is scheduled for completion in August, 2026. Canadore College also recently opened their doors to their new 85,000 square foot state of the art air support structure (dome) from the Farley Group at their Commerce Court Campus. This dome is a year-round athletic facility, boasting a FIFA artificial turf surface, multi-purpose courts, high-performance training area and attached clubhouse. NBMHA teams have already started utilizing Canadore’s dome for off ice training. These new facilities only strengthen the hockey opportunities available to athletes in North Bay.
North Bay Minor Hockey is committed to offering an exceptional hockey experience, one that is both competitive and affordable. We focus not only on developing great hockey players but also on instilling life-long lessons that extend far beyond the rink.
We encourage North Bay and surrounding families to stay with us and continue growing within our organization. At the same time, we are excited to welcome new players and families from outside North Bay who want to be part of something special.
Join us and be part of North Bay’s hockey tradition!
