Welcome Hockey Players and Parents to:
Tim Horton’s – North Bay Hockey for Beginners Timbit Trappers
Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 – The weather is not ideal in some areas of the city. However, we will not be cancelling our hockey for beginners sessions tonight. What we do ask is all parents use good judgment when leaving for the arena. If you feel the roads are not safe, please stay at home. We will see you next session!
We just completed registration for the 2013 – 2014 season. Our program is now full. We are not accepting any further registrations. We would like to thank you for considering our program.
If you have registered your son/daughter for our 2013 – 2014 program, we ask parents/guardians to please attend the parents meeting Tuesday, October 8th - 7pm upstairs at West Ferris Arena. The meeting won’t take long but is important. We will be handing out your son/daughters sweater, socks & schedule. If you are not able to attend we encourage you to send a responsible adult in your place. Players do not need to attend. See you there!

About our Program:
We follow the Initiation Program as dictated by Hockey Canada. This program is very well designed and will help your child learn the proper way to skate, step by step. It incorporates games and activities that reinforce the skills being taught. Pucks are introduced only after the players are strong enough skaters that they can handle this additional task (usually around Christmas time). We use a 4oz puck that is blue in colour as these are easier for the young hockey player to handle.
All volunteers are asked to wear skates and a helmet on the ice and bring a hockey stick, NO SHOES please! (Insurance reasons) Siblings that are under 12 years of age are respectfully asked not to go on the ice to help out due to safety reasons.
We also encourage high school students requiring community service hours to come out and help with the beginners program. If you know of any students that require their school community service hours please tell them to get into contact with the hockey for beginners.
Full hockey equipment must be worn at all times by the participants including a neck guard. Instructors will ask the young hockey players to leave the ice if they do not have all the necessary equipment. Please help us avoid upsetting the young participants by ensuring that they are fully protected by wearing all the equipment. See equipment page for details.
